Dr Karly Hatcher was born Southern California. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara, and her Veterinary degree from the School of Veterinary Medicine at UC Davis, graduating in 2004. While completing her veterinary degree, Dr. Hatcher spent time at multiple equine sport horse and referral practices, including Alamo Pintado Equine Medical Center (in Los Olivos, California), Steinbeck Country Equine Clinic (in Salinas, California), Arizona Equine Medical Center (in Gilbert, Arizona), and New Bolton Center (at the University of Pennsylvania). She also was awarded a veterinary internship at Alaska Sea Life Center, in Seward, Alaska, where she aided in the capture and care of stranded marine wildlife including seabirds, stellar sea lions, harbor seals, and sea otters.
Dr. Hatcher started her career in private practice, as an Equine Veterinarian at a busy practice in Santa Cruz, California in 2004, with a focus on performance horse medicine and emergency care. Her interests include ophthalmology, as well as equine general health care and preventative medicine. Dr. Karly went on to start and grow an equine practice of her own in Amador County, California. Now a part of Loomis Basin Equine Medical Group, Amador Equine is expanding to meet all of the large animal veterinary needs of the area.
With family on Maui, Karly and her husband Brett look forward to spending more time on the island, and helping out Makawao Veterinary Clinic whenever she can.
